Former Highland student, Kinley Hoelscher, retired from her year of service as a Texas FFA state officer representing over 180,000 members across the state of Texas. During the week, she chaired general sessions and gave her retiring address during her last moments in the FFA organization.
We are so proud of how Kinley represented the Hilltop on the state stage!
Our Highland Cheerleaders and Twirlers are hosting a Mini Cheer/Twirl Camp for incoming PK through 5th-grade students! Campers will learn awesome routines and get the chance to perform at the Big Blue Preview on August 6th AND during halftime at a Varsity home game! 🏈✨

Huge congratulations to Davis Etheredge and Coach Melissa Pyburn, who were honored today at the Big Country Athletic Hall of Fame! 🏆 Davis was recognized for placing first in the Conference 1A High Jump, and Coach Pyburn was celebrated for her leadership as our head girls track coach. Way to represent the Hilltop!
Highland athletic’s summer kicks off officially on Monday! Come get better and stay busy, there are plenty of options.
Camp week begins on Monday with our basketball camp through Wednesday and our football camp on Thursday and Friday. Flyers attached. You can bring forms and payment to the camp, but don’t let money be a reason not to come, we will get your kids in and make it work! These camps are also open to the public, so invite anyone who fits in the age groups.
$5 fundamentals will also begin on Monday from 5:00-6:00 and will run all month of June on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Incoming 3rd-6th grades and open to the public!
6th-12th grade boys and girls, we will also see you at summer workouts Monday evening at 6:00. Shoot to be the athlete with perfect attendance.
It’s going to be a great June up on the hilltop, see you all there!
🏆Our Theatre Arts program is still collecting medals for our outstanding year. Together, through all of their accolades, they collected enough points to achieve First Runner-up Theater Team Winners! This is a huge accomplishment, and we are proud of the OAP team! 💙🎭

That is a wrap on the State Track Meet! Our Girls 4x400m Relay team—Davis Etheredge, Hallee Montgomery, Tatum Heady, and Kaylee Rogers—competed on the biggest stage in Texas tonight.
While the race didn't go quite as planned, just earning the right to compete at the State Championship is a massive achievement. These girls represented Highland ISD with incredible heart, grit, and pride.💙

Highland is competing at the Conference 1A State Track Meet today. Our Hornets have already broken TWO school records in field events:
🥇Davis Etheredge is your new STATE CHAMPION in the High Jump, clearing 5'5"!!
🏅Kaylene Ledbetter took 4th in the State in Discus with a throw of 120'6"!!
