That is a wrap on the State Track Meet! Our Girls 4x400m Relay team—Davis Etheredge, Hallee Montgomery, Tatum Heady, and Kaylee Rogers—competed on the biggest stage in Texas tonight.
While the race didn't go quite as planned, just earning the right to compete at the State Championship is a massive achievement. These girls represented Highland ISD with incredible heart, grit, and pride.💙

Highland is competing at the Conference 1A State Track Meet today. Our Hornets have already broken TWO school records in field events:
🥇Davis Etheredge is your new STATE CHAMPION in the High Jump, clearing 5'5"!!
🏅Kaylene Ledbetter took 4th in the State in Discus with a throw of 120'6"!!
The excitement isn't over. Keep those positive vibes coming for our Girls 4x400m Relay team as they hit the track later tonight!

🏃♂️Our young Hornets brought their energy to the PeeWee Track Meet today! From flying over the hurdles, sprinting for the finish line, and conquering field events, every student showed incredible heart and sportsmanship. We are so proud of our youngest athletes for giving it their all and making it a day to remember!

Our Highland freshmen and sophomores had an incredible day exploring the Dyess Air Force Base Career Day in Abilene! From touring massive planes and testing out tactical gear to hitting the ground for push-ups and meeting a robot dog, our Hornets got a firsthand look at the exciting opportunities awaiting them after graduation.

📢It's time to get ready for a summer of Highland Hornet Athletics!
🔹5th-11th Parents: Summer workout calendars and camp forms are being sent home with your students TODAY. Camp forms can be turned in to Coach Oliver any point between now and the first day of camps. Athletic participation packets are also being sent home TODAY. All 5th-11th graders need to have these packets completed by Wednesday (May 6th). All current 5th, 6th, 8th, and 10th graders will need a physical. These will be done for free by Dr. King here at Highland Wednesday at noon. If you do not get them done on Wednesday, they must be done on your own before the first day of practices in August.
