Abilene, TX – Highland High School students demonstrated their commitment to community service by volunteering at Mission Thanksgiving in Abilene on November 22nd.

Throughout the morning, students actively participated in various tasks, including loading trucks and sorting donations. Their efforts played a crucial role in ensuring that numerous local homeless and impoverished families would have a joyful and well-provisioned Thanksgiving.

“Our students’ positive attitudes and eagerness to help others were truly commendable,” said Steven Pyburn, Superintendent at Highland ISD. “I hope this experience will encourage them to seek out more opportunities to give back to their community and inspire others to do the same.”

Mission Thanksgiving brings together the community of Abilene and the Big Country to support Love and Care Ministries in their mission to help the homeless and impoverished. For the past 21 years, this annual November event has made a significant impact on the lives of those in need. The organization relies on the efforts of volunteers to sort donations and deliver food baskets.

Highland ISD is immensely proud of its students' dedication to community service and their willingness to give back to those in need and positively impact their community.
