Spring 2009 TAKS Scores |
 | |
HISD students again performed at a high level on this spring’s Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) tests. Preliminary scores indicate that over 90% of students in grades 3-11 as a whole passed the five subject area tests. As was the case in 2008, all students who took the Writing exam in grades 4 and 7 passed. Overall scores in Reading and Math increased over 2008. Congratulations to the HISD faculty and students for their accomplishments.

SchoolReach Notification System |
 | |
For 2008-09, Highland ISD is continuing the SchoolReach telephone broadcast system that enables school personnel to notify all households and parents by phone within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event that causes early dismissal, school cancellation or late start. SchoolReach may also be used from time-to-time to communicate general announcements or reminders. HISD will continue to report school closings due to inclement weather on local radio and television stations and will use the SchoolReach system as an overlay to the public announcements.
SchoolReach simultaneously calls all listed phone numbers in our parent contact list and delivers a recorded message from the superintendent or another school administrator. The service delivers the message to both live answer and answering machines. No answers and busy signals will be automatically retried twice in 15 minute intervals after the initial call.
