Highland ISD Names Steven Pyburn as New Superintendent

Roscoe, TX - Highland ISD proudly announces its selection of Steven Pyburn as the district's new Superintendent. After an extensive search process, Mr. Pyburn emerged as the ideal candidate to lead the district and has officially signed a contract, effective July 1, 2023.  Previously serving as Superintendent at Hale Center ISD, Mr. Pyburn brings exceptional
leadership skills and a deep understanding of the Texas education landscape to his role at Highland ISD. His extensive background in educational administration spans over 15 years, during which he has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a “Student First” approach.
Throughout his career, Mr. Pyburn has consistently prioritized student achievement and fostered collaboration among students, faculty, staff, and the broader community. His vision for Highland ISD encompasses promoting academic excellence, supporting educators, and enhancing
opportunities for student growth and development. "I am honored to join Highland ISD as the Superintendent and be entrusted with leading this
esteemed district," said Mr. Pyburn. "Having grown up just 30 miles from the district, I feel like I am coming home. I look forward to returning to the community to make a positive impact at Highland, a district I have long admired." The Highland ISD Board of Trustees, after careful consideration, unanimously voted in favor of Mr. Pyburn's selection as the new Superintendent. School Board President, Jimmy Johns, expressed his confidence in the appointment, stating, "We are thrilled to have Steven Pyburn as our new Superintendent. We are confident that Mr. Pyburn will lead Highland with integrity and a student-centered approach."  As Superintendent, Mr. Pyburn will focus on fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, leveraging his expertise to enhance educational programs, and ensuring a supportive and empowering environment for all students, staff, and the community.
