Using funds from wind-energy related Economic Development Act agreements, HISD started a multi-year student technology initiative in the fall of 2007. Each student in 4th grade received a Palm handheld computer and each 7th grade student received a laptop computer. For the 2008-09 school year 8th and 10th grade students will have laptop computers as well.

The goal for the initiative is “Every student using technology tools when they need them.” Through this initiative, HISD plans to make technology an integral part of the learning process.
